Mike McLean -
A Proven Record Of Holding The Line On Taxes
Mike Says "Keep Taxes Low"
"As a tax payer and a small business owner, I believe in holding the line on taxes
and making government live within its means. I am proud to be a commissioner with the
city that has the lowest tax rate in Seminole County.
One way to keep our taxes down is to attract new, clean industry to help take the tax
burden off of our homeowners and families. As your next County Commissioner, that’s what
I’ll endeavor to do for our County."
Mike McLean
Mike McLean's Tax Plan
- Vote no on any new taxes
- Roll back the millage rate to give taxpayers a break from the rapid rise of home
revaluations
- Lighten the tax burden on homeowners by attracting new, clean industry to Seminole
County to shoulder more of the burden
- Support statewide efforts to make homestead exemptions portable so homeowners can
take their current tax rate with them and continue capping increases when they move
- Support a constitutional amendment to give counties the option by referendum to
double the homestead exemption to $50,000

Mike is endorsed by Commissioner Dick VanDerWeide, the ONLY Seminole County Commissioner
calling for a property tax roll back to give taxpayers a needed break.
Why Are So Many Winter Springs Homeowners Trying to Recall Michael Blake?
It could be because Blake keeps voting to raise property taxes.
Michael Blake has a tax record that would make a Democrat proud:
- 2002: 12.4% increase
Rate increased from 3.54 Mills to 3.708 Mills. (source: 9/24/01 BOCC min.)
- 2003: 15.58% increase
Blake moves to raise tax rate from 3.708 to 4.1658 Mills. (source: 9/23/02 BOCC min.)
- 2004: 6.92% increase
Blake moves to raise tax rate from 4.1658 to 4.2086 Mills. (source: 9/22/03 BOCC min.)
- 2005: 5.49% increase
Blake moves to adopt the tax rate of 4.3 Mills. (source: 9/27/04 BOCC min.)
- 2006: 17.63% increase
Blake moves to raise tax rate from 4.3 to 4.75 Mills. (source: 9/26/2005 BOCC min.)
Previously, however, Blake seconded the motion to double the tax rate to 8.0 mills.
(source: 7/11/2005 BOCC min.)
Public outcry convinced them to not raise it as much.
